Title: A good idea on a bad way to feed.
Post by: Grandma_DOG on May 13, 2009, 03:48:33 pm
I did a cutout Saturday and they had some half filled uncured honey in several combs.

I thought, hey, I'll just let my bees clean this out.  So I threw these combs in the back of my strong hive and the cutout hive. Thinking it won't start robbing this way.

Whoops. Good idea, bad implementation.

A strong honeyflow started last week apparently.  I went to check the 2 hives and both had cleaned up the combs and were now filling them with honey.

So I pulled them out of the hives and put them 10 feet away. This time, I know they won't store honey in them.
