3rd Anniversary Of Katrina Removal
« on: August 29, 2008, 07:47:42 pm »
Yep, 3 yrs ago I was in this exact position, just about to evacuate and removed bees from a home the day before we evacuated for Katrina, actually removed those bees about a week and a half before Katrina, but had to move them the day before we left from that person's house, they wanted to enjoy them before I took them and I almost forgot about them.

Fast forward to today, we have a major hurricane coming our way and here I am removing bees from a house.

This couple will be keeping the bees, bringing them to their place in Ms, I really enjoyed this one and will be mentoring this fellow.

How'd ya know she was confused Bill???

I released her in the set up and she walked in and down so things were cool, then shook the bees in, all three boxes worth.

They looked fine and I was picking up and checked on 'em and whoah, a cluster on the fence next to the hive.

Had to move in, catch her and cage her, amongst about 1500 bees, could have been much worse though, say 20,000 on the fence!!

Thank goodness they hadn't really noticed she had left the hive, yet.

I think she left cause it was very warm out and perhaps a little honey dripped on her.

I couldn't help but notice in the pic of the queen there are some different bees... Several have black bodies like carni's.

Ferals have all types of colors and sizes too. Some are black. I even have one queen who is almost black herself. She is extrememly skittish and hides like no other queen i got. She will run acroos the tiops as well. Amazing really.
