dead queen

I took a few brood frames to kickstart a dieing hive and attempted to put a queen in it.  I put her in Wednesday, Saturday I went to remove the cage - she was still in it - dead with all the retainers.  Yes, I did remove the cork from the candy end.  Any ideas? - candy was still in place.
The good life is honey on a Ritz.

Now you have emergency queen cells there. When cells are capped bees will accept new queen quite well. Still after that you must make sure that no new queen cell emerge. Often queen destoy cells but if not, new queen will kill the queen.

"Few brood frames" is quite much and you will get a good hive.
