Hello from Nagoya Japan
« on: December 19, 2008, 05:43:28 am »
Hi!
I'm originally from New Jersey.  Settled in Japan about 35 years ago after military service here.

Just getting started with beekeeping!  At the moment, building  Warre hives, reading anything I can get my hands on and visiting an apiary when I have the chance.

I chose the Warre as it appears closer to natural conditions and relatively easy to maintain.

Looking forward to a good start coming spring.

Rick

Hi Rick, Welcome to the forum. Are you any where near Yokosuka Japan. I was there for a while back in 99. I had a lot of fun in Japan.

Rick,
Welcome, Welcome, You will enjoy the info here. Lots of good people and lots of great info. There are even a few of us that are very familiar with Japan. I lived in Nabari and Auska there a little south of Nagoya not too long ago. What a beautiful and fun place. We lived in country and loved every minute of it. I would like to hear more about why you decided to go with the Warre hive. Look forward to hearing more.
You guys in the city or the country over there? Pics??

Kanichiwa,  Glad to see a beekeeper from Nippon.
Which Island are you on?  I spent some time at Chitose, Hokkaido back during the Vietnam war.  Loved the land of jello.  All those earthquakes and snow in the winter to over 10 feet compacted.
