Title: My first cut out... :)
Post by: PLAN-B on July 31, 2013, 10:34:45 pm
Attempted my first cut out this weekend and I feel it was a success... My friend who wished to tag along with me and received the business end of about 8 little ladies might tell you otherwise, but he's not a member..    Found the queen after all comb and 98% of the girls were vacuumed up... Sry was so excited that I didn't get a pic of her...
JP makes it look far easier than it is--- I'm sure most of you know... Whatever you are charging to remove--- it should be doubled... Lol. Apparently I was holding my camera phone sideways... Sry...

Nice B.
I'm curious, what is that inside wall made of? It looks like solid wood, was that an outside wall or an inside wall?

Thanks JP... It's an abandoned house across from colonial sugar in gramercy and the owner said they have been there for about 6 years. There is another colony about six feet away from this one that goes from floor to ceiling...going back in a week or two to get those... Sawdstmakr--- that is an exterior wall. The interior has Sheetrock with 3/4 tongue and grove wood behind it... Would have removed them from the inside but it fell in the middle of intersecting interior wall... :( the owner said it was no big deal so I proceeded...
Moots the bucket vac worked flawlessly and was more than half full when I was finished... Didn't notice any dead bees when I emptied them in to their new homes... :)

Good job!  I bet your were 3/4 of the way done, thinking "I have to be nuts, this is hard!" followed by "Can't wait to do the next one!"  Us bee removers are all addled in the head...

Looks like Fun.  Made my first cutout as well this year after purchasing the ROBO vac.  Inside a firemans house.  He even stayed and helped.  Five hours later it was a done deal.  Used a FLIR camera to locate them in the wall.  Amazing to see the heat signiature of the bees in his bedroom wall.  They are doing well.  I watched alot of JP's videos to glean all of his techniques.  Rubber bands and empty frames worked great.  Some of the best tasting Mesquite honey I've ever tasted.  Good luck on future cutouts and I hope JP will put out a training video of what works best.  I need to find that cutting tool he uses.   :)
