First Time Instructor

One of my wife's clients grandson was in town and very interested in bees so they came over and I took him thru a few hives. It was quite enjoyable. We even found the queen and I let him eat some honey off of a frame which I think was the highlight for him.

Kids just love comb honey, I guess cause its sweet and messy. They love having it all over their face like eating a sloppy burger.

I see you're in Oklahoma, but you must be a cheese head with the color of your hives huh? ;)

Must be really calm bees not to wear any protection at all.  Do you happen to know George with George's Apiaries down in Norman?  I used to be down there a lot when my daughter played basketball with the Sooners. George helped me get started.  I also like to give kids a tour of the hives and the way mine are situated, if they are scared, they can look out a window in my house and I can hold the bees and frames right up to the glass so they can see what is going on. I also like to go to classrooms and give bee talks.  In August, I'll be setting up a display of beekeeping at the local zoo.  Should be fun.
