Observiation Hive Pics.

These are some pics of my Ob Hive setup.

Background Info:

This was started from a frame of bees/brood with laying queen.    I added the second frame immediatly.  I am always feeding them sugar water from the top.

The tube inside goes to through the wall; the outside tube is open at the bottom and also at the top.  Some go in/out the top and some go in/out the bottom.   I did this so that in the winter when the bottom might be covered in snow, they can still get out for a cleansing flight.

From what I read, it is unlikely they will survice the winter in the ObHive,  but I'm gonna give it a try.

they are now drawing out the top frame.

Full set-up.

The tube from the hive to the outside wall, about 1 foot.   1" tubing and some plastice PVC piping.

Outsite, about 6 feet of tubing.

Top entrance.

Nicely done
That is just too cool

I just might have to have one of those. That's so cool! Wouldn't having a shorter tubing on the outside make it easier for the bees?

I thought about that, but I wanted the exit to be above head when
I mowed the grass.     And it has to be above the snow line.... :P

That is soooooooooooooo sweet. I would love to do that but there is no way my mom will let me pull that off. I would put one in the honey room but there are just to many people around it outside, owell, I will just do it when I grow up, yeah, only 2 more years till I can move out and get an indoor hive, lol, bye
