How do I go about knowing what kind of bees I have? Do you just go by photos? I  don't know of any active bee clubs here on island so I'm going to bug you guys.

Photos would help identify them.

Weather is looking good today so far. I'll suit up and go take a look at the medium supers I put on top 3 weeks ago. I'll try to get some good photos while I'm there.

I could see a photo and still have no idea  :-D Unless artificially inseminated from a know source and never open mated would't they all be mutts? Lots of different colors and traits is a good thing. Two much hype on what kind of bee..... heck do the producers really know.... or just claim.  And after you do a split in your yard and it open mates? The best bee for your yard is what works best for you  :-D Local if you can find it or breed it.

You have a point there SC... I guess what is here is here as you can not ship bees to Hawai'i anymore from what I was told. I do know there are a lot of queen bees shipped from Hawai'i tho...
