Title: Bee stuff for Christmas?
Post by: Sean Kelly on December 31, 2008, 07:40:22 pm
Anyone get any cool bee stuff for Christmas this year?  Last year everything I got was bee related but this year I got nothing bee related.  Was kinda weird.

I got a Jenter queen rearing system from my mom.  She usually gets me something bee related every year.   I'm looking forward to putting it in use.

Nah, my birthday was back on Nov 25th.  The only thing close to bees that I got for that birthday was the "Compleat Mead Maker" book for making honey wine.  I did get a tattoo which is in another post.  :-)

Was a really nice Christmas even though no beekeeping stuff for me.  :-(  I did get tons of fly tying stuff, a really neat watch, some booze filled chocolates, a really cool replica 20's style telephone (the ones where you hold the ear piece with one hand and the mic with the other), and some awesome Nike boots.

My kids made out like bandits though!!!  The grand parents and great grand parents were very generous!!!  So was Santa!!!  :-)

I sold a lot of pint jars of honey that were given to others as Christmas presents, does that count? My DW and I got each other a new LCD TV for the bedroom in the motorhome seeing as how thats where we spent Christmas and New Years.

My wife and kids got me a "complete hive with beeswax coated pasticell foundation" from Dadant.  Pretty cool.  Last year was my first year with one hive (hope they are making throught the cold and snow alright).  Now, I hope to add at least one more and maybe more than that after my b-day in February!

...I guess you know you are a beekeeper when...your husband asks you if you want diamond jewelry for Christmas or bee equipment - and you choose BEE EQUIPMENT!!

I got:
2 complete medium hives with 4 extra boxes,
2 queen excluders, 2 bee escape boards,
smoker, frame perch

I got the free shipping from Brushy Mtn and it arrived Christmas Eve day.  Pretty cool.  I still need to order the bee suits (soon!), some extra frames, and a few other things from Dadant- all still part of the "Christmas present package".  Pretty exciting for a newbie who's feral bees are STILL in the garbage can!!
