Regular wedge frames for removal...install wedge or not.

Getting ready to do the removal at the old dairy farm and thinking about the frames for the brood and have a (probably) trivial question.  I use wedge top frames so should I install the wedges and turn them as you would for foundationless frames.  Or, just leave the wedges off and center the comb up the best I can and let the bees attach to the solid top bar?

I would use the wedge. If anything happens to the frame (SHB for example) you can just cut out the comb and use the frame as is.

Roger that, Scott.  I was doing an inventory and looks like I need to knock together a couple more supers of frames...just finished painting the rest of my supers a couple of weeks ago so I'm good to go on boxes...just gotta get a few more frames together.  Would you glue the wedge in (permanent foundationless) or just nail it in? 

This week hasn't gone smoothly so far...I'm getting a little anxious on getting things together for the cut-out Saturday.  :-\  It'll all work out, though. ;)

I just staple them in. I've had a few failures but not enough to worry about.

I would turn them 90 degrees and nail them back in so there is a guide for any future time that there is one needed...

I cut mine out and then cut the combs so they will sit on the bottom bar and go all the way up to the cut out on the top bar. A little "smush" at the top bar and it will not fall out the other side. Save the wedge for future use.

Well there is three keeps and three different ways................next! :lol:

Well, I ended up turning them 90-degrees and nailing them in.  I think that might have been what Scott was figuring on.   But, George, I kinda like your idea of things, too. 

I made up two supers worth (16) of medium frames.  Enough???  :?

The rubberbands that I've got....their something like 3-1/4" x 1/4".  Is the 1/4" width ok or do I need thinner ones?
