oh, i don't know. my youngest had decided what he wanted to do by age 9. while we have other commissioned navy officers in our family, none were commissioned right out of school. it was his goal to be the first in the family to do this. in 2005 he graduated from college and was given his commission in the USN. some kids do decide early what they want to do.
equating service to the country with serving Hitler is probably a bit of a stretch.
