Title: What if (nuc) question
Post by: CDN BEE on July 04, 2013, 10:44:14 pm
New Bee here..I made up a nuc on June 9th.My concern is no queen cells .I think I have a laying worker, I added another brood frame on June 26th.Getting worried that I may not save this nuc,so I have ordered two queens that I'm picking up this Sunday.

What if I have a laying worker and add a queen, will she stand any chance of surviving?

Or should I split the nuc,add the queens and hope one survives?
Or brush out the nuc add more Bees and introduce the queens(in two separate nucs)?

Any info/ suggestions appreciated.

Maybe just me but not enough info to begin to answer:

I guess my first question would be why do you think you have a laying worker?

Did it have cells when you split it?

How big was it when you split?

Where you wanting it to make cells?

You split it once and you are talking about splitting it again?

How many frames is it?

What is the condition, brood, feed, etc?

Does the other half of the split still have a good queen?
