Kia Ora from New Zealand
« on: January 11, 2011, 03:09:15 pm »
A Maori greeting from the land of the long white cloud.
I am a third year beekeeper of 3 x Langstroth hives, 1 x Top Bar Hive amd 1 x Warre hive,
the last two as an experiment and interest.
We are in the Southern Hemisphere and, therefore, our seasons are oposite to most of the members.
I live in Auckland, a city of 1.4 million where the climate is very mild. We had 6 days of frost last winter, very cold !!!! I am a committee member of the Auckland Beekeepers Club.
I have been a watcher of this forum for some time and find it very interesting to learn of other beekeepers experience. Cheers for now.

Welcome b2b!!  New Zealand is such a beautiful place!  We spent about 3 months there a while back, but only on the South Island. My brother lives in Wanaka (well Lake Hiwea really).  I can't think of a more beautiful place.

Look forward to hearing more about Kiwi bees! Be sure to check out the downunder boards.  I know Oz has different climates than NZ but at least the seasons will match up!

love,
