Anybody ever run a Swarm trap line by boat along a river or lake shore?
I'm thinking I can load my John boat with about 40 traps and a 12' ladder setting out traps every 1/4 mile or so. I never see anybody but the occasional fisherman.

Sounds just like my coon, rat, mink and beaver trap lines. Personally I would leave tha ladder at home. I set my swarm traps out of plain sight and no higher that I can reach. Also paint colors like olive drab help to hide them

Danno, I figure with a ladder I can leave them somewhat consealed, but still visible from the boat to make them easy to check. Also, gets them up above most floods. I'll use your olive green painting advice.
Trying to figure out a way to easily check a bunch of swarm traps without wasting a ton of time and gas money.
Any other tips?
Thanks,
Don

i run around 40 to 60 bait hives and never get my feet of the ground; just ty a string or rope around it and tie a weight on a cord and flip it over a branch, hoist it up. when a swarm hits let it down , plug it and head home

I guess the bees arn't bothered by their nest being blown about???
(I'm a roofing contractor and am more use to being up in the air then on the ground)
Thanks. ....Don

well i usually catch 50+, that answer yo ???????

Hang your trap, tie a string to it and run the string back to the house. At night tie the string to your big toe and any tuggin' on that string will wake you up to let you know you got em! :-D
I like your plan of running a line...you'll cover a lot of area and can check 'em easy enough. Just make sure that they are kinda hard to get to. You don't want to give vandals an easy mark.

Bud - How many swarm traps do you set out for 50+ captures?

Wondering that too...

50 swarms?... Dang. At my success rate (+/- 10%) I'd have to set out 500 traps. Even I'd have to say that too many.

30 to 40

What lure do you use?

I like that idea, but instead of using a boat I just set mine up just off the road and painted them as camo as I can.
