Just Some Bees (Non-Honey Bee)

I believe this is a blueberry bee. Looks similar to a bumble bee but probably a third the size. The flowers are deceptively small, close to the size of a US penny. The tree is a Crabapple tree, I forget the variety.



Same Crabapple tree, different bee. Not really sure what it is exactly but I imagen it's one of the many solitary bees that have taken over my yard over the past few months.

Awesome pictures!

I was lucky to get these two on a Bull Nettle blossom. Later there was a carpenter bee, and what I think was a Metallic Green Bee. Was a busy blossom that day!

Oops, forgot to say what kind of bees (I'm guessing of course!), but the little one in front I think is a Leaf Cutter (many different photos, some look like this) and for sure the biggun ontop is a Bumble It shook the blossom when it landed it was so big! Please correct me if I'm guessing incorrectly.

Yeah, I agree.  I think that's a worker bumble.  The huge queens we usually see in early spring are all finished collecting nector and building their nest and should be nested by now making babies.  The bumbles we see from now and until late summer should mostly be workers which are smaller (just like the honeybees), right up until early fall when the new queens & drones emerge, mate, and hibernate.

My first thought on the other one was also leaf cutter but I could be totally wrong.

That's better.  My son and I were down the street when we saw one bumble bee lazing all the down in the flower.  While we were trying to snap a pic here come a visitor and they immediately started to tussle.  We thought it was pretty cool to watch.

Some type of mason bee has moved in our nesting block. It's actually the type meant for Leaf Cutter Bees but I'm not complaining. Leaves, mud, makes no difference to me as long as they pollinate the blueberries.

On the opposite side I also have one meant for Blue Mason Bees which are a bit larger. But so far none have moved in.
