Annual Trek To Tx.
« on: March 16, 2009, 04:35:35 pm »
Well I am finalizing my plans to head to Texas again this spring for more splits.  It looks like everything is going well and I am going to try and remember to grab my camera this time so I can post some pics of our splitting yard.  This should be pretty exciting time.  Hopefully I dont run into any problems while I am done there.  I see Dadant has a store right on the way to where I am going so I will probably stop in and browse around to see what they all have.

Nice folks at the Dadant store in Paris.  There's not much of a storefront, mostly a warehouse with an office in front and a few displays.

Millermann I was just thinking about you yesterday before I finished packing up my gooseneck to haul to Tx...  I got your inners in the mail.  Actually Bro....  I just boxed them up.  My beautiful bride said she would take them to the shipper today and get the off to u so u got them in time for your fun in Va...

I was thinking Dadant would be a warehouse type deal.  No need for a storefront when the folks coming in know exactly what they want, when they want.  I just need to pick up a couple set of cheapo gloves I can tear up in Tx.  I'm thinking 1 pair might last the splitting.  The other pair should make it thru the feedings..  Or maybe I will just duct tape the first pair.  we shall see!!!!

Well I am back.  I do have some pics to share.  Not many.  I once again forgot my camera and took some pics with my phone.  Which is fine as most work days were 15 hour days while making splits and installing queen cells.

It was a pretty exciting and exhausting time.

Hey BMAC, which part of Texas did you go? Anywhere near Beaumont? Just wondering how close to me you come every year.

Ok.  I can never remember how to link pictures in this forum but here is my first and hopefully only stab at it.  This is a picture of my dinky F250 flatbed with 48 doubles on it.  We loaded my truck and a 24ft flatbed 10wheeler from the semi unloading pad and here is the spot on the 6000 acre ranch where we split this group of doubles.  U can see all the bees flying in the air.  It was quite an exhausting experience.  Overall in two weeks we split 3000 hives....

well I checked the link so the first shot this time is good for me.
