Rolling Pin to kill SHB
« on: October 01, 2010, 03:51:26 am »
Just went out to the hives with a rolling pin, smoked the entrances, lifted the lid, smoked the bees off the top of the inner cover. Then mashed the beetles with a rolling pin. Just rolling it over the inner cover. :-D Killed 80-90% of what was between the vinyl inner cover and the frames.
I did kill a few bees, but not many.

I have heard of people using a blow torch to burn out the beetles as soon as they pop open the lid.   You might loose some bees, but as least you can kill the beetles before they fly away.
