Nosema?
« on: April 21, 2009, 07:56:25 pm »
I have two new hives last summer that survived the winter and would not take any medicated syrup at all this spring. I went out today and the front of both hives and on the ground have what looks to be little long thin tracks of yellow waste. I replaced the old medicated syrup with new tonight. I hope that they will take it now to get medicated.

Any ideas of what to next if they don't take it?

First, they may not have Nosema.  Dysentery does not prove Try HBH (Honey Bee Healthy) instead of the fumigillan.  Any feed will clear them out.  HBH is a feed stimulant and will get some feed through them, plus a study from Australia indicates that Lemongrass Essential Oil (which is in HBH) will help with Nosema.

Or just feed them some watered down honey.  :)
