Here's an interesting article comparing several methods of disinfecting AFB. The upshot is that complete heat treatment is better than anything, even scorching. they probally would still not hold very many but would be a start.

I'd go for the "boiling in paraffin" method myself. It will preserve and it will disinfect.

That's a lot of parrafin, but probably less expensive than one of those whopper ovens PDMattox posted.
