First Swarm call this year

Received a call Wednesday about a swarm in a tree near a convenience market. As luck would have it I was about three blocks away without my truck. Went by and the swarm had left the tree due to a large truck idling under them. The exhaust appeared to irritate them into leaving and they were swirling in the middle of a side street. Watched them for a few minutes and they settled in a juniper tree next to a house across from a school. Teachers from the school were very interested and asked lots of questions. After seeing them settle down I returned home to get my truck with my tools and boxes in it.
They were about 8 ft up so I took a nuc box up a step ladder strapped it to the top and shook what I could in and then waited for them to orient to it. After about 45 minutes most were inside. Left them alone and returned after dark, screened the entrance and took them to my place.
One of the easiest catches I have made.

Sounded nice and easy. Congratulations on the first call of the year. How many swarms have you caught overall?

Not sure, probably in excess of 30 over many years.

OK so you are experienced with swarm catching.
I just caught my first one 2 weeks ago.

Still shows, yes I am very pleased about the whole experience. I am patting myself on the back, I know I shouldn't think like this (egotistical), but if you knew me, like I know me, then you would understand that it was an amazing thing to do.

Bruce, now aint' that just cool!!! Funny how the exhaust from the vehicle must have truly disturbed them. Keep on keepin' on. Have the most wonderful and great day, life, great health. Cindi
