Muscovy babies hatching
« on: April 27, 2008, 10:50:31 am »
Yesterday, day 35 of Lovely Lady sitting on her eggs.  We heard sounds coming from beneath her body, hee, hee, guess she is hatching out the babies.  My lovely Neice is so excited now. She has prepared a space in her bedroom to take a couple of these little critters into her care (and she is going to take a turkey baby too).  She loves to take these and mother a couple of them, she had done this three times before and the ducks turned out very nice little critters.  So, today, there will be more.  There is is another Muscovy, Faya, who is now going broody too, last night when I closed up the chickenhouse, she was sitting on a nest box.  I saw some fluffy feathers of hers in there yesterday, so she is not going to sit.  That is neat because I have been saving Muscovy eggs, and I will give her 10 this morning, she will already have a couple in there.  The rest of the eggs I have been gathering I will put in the incubator, along with a couple of dozen chicken eggs.  Babies coming out of the woodwork, duck dinners coming up this fall, eat your heart out JP!!!  Beautiful and most wonderful day, loving life.  Cindi

Cindi, how exciting!  You have to take pics for us.  My daughter could tell the difference between muscovy babies & reg ducks early on, said they look like "little boats", just the slightest difference in carriage!  Your Niece sounds wonderful, so great she is a nuturer!  Pics of her & her babies too please!  You are not the only nosy one around!  How wonderful you have your family close, everyone benifits, specially all the kids!
