Title: Two Swarms, Two Cut Outs, Fish & Wisteria---April 11, 2010
Post by: JP on April 11, 2010, 11:59:37 pm
First pics of bees just settled into an attic space. Boy was that a fun one, not!
Had to squeeze through a narrow opening, dragging beevac, tool box, etc...

Bees were nice though.

Next is a small swarm, then a swarm on sheet piling at a hospital, then a cut out of a new hive between floor joists.

Went to Bud's and we caught a few, but the weather was terrible for fishin' no moon, clear skies and no wind but the wisteria was in full bloom and had everything smellin' really good!

BTW, Annette, just got your message tonight & don't have phone coverage at Bud's. Will see how the installation went on your post about that.

The bees look good, but how big would the bass be if you weren't holding them at arm's length.      :-D

Iddee, shhhhhh.

They big either way!  ;)

A few small ones, one about 3.5, one about 4lbs and Bud caught one near five, he says six, I say five, he says six...

I just love that fresh white comb on those cutouts.

You always make it all look so easy, although I know it is very hard work.

I just love wisteria and have some growing along my decks. Have to maintain them a lot though or they get pretty wild. Love how they grow up the tree. I have some on a back deck that decided to grow up a tree and I really liked it, but had a landscaping man come one year and he took it down.  I think I might let it grow up that tree again.

JP I posted on here about the installation of the hive. I will update it now.

Glad you had fun with Bud. Are you eating those fish?? Or throwing them back in??. I know some people just catch them and release them.

Take care
Annette

Annette, we eat the ones we catch in the creek way down yonder in the woods, where you need 4 wheel drive & a chain saw to get to.

The ones behind Bud's place you don't even think of keepin' and it anin't up for discussion, no!

Them's for sprout when he grows up, thanks to a fine Paw Paw!

Nice cut outs, that first one had some really nice lookinig straight comb, looked just right for a frame. I would venture to say you were sweating a little on that one.

Seems like all is rewarded with a couple of easy swarm catches though.

Great job as usual, keep up the good work and love your pics of the bees.

The wisterira here is just starting to open up and smell great.
