Title: hi from northern wisconsin
Post by: robk23678 on June 24, 2013, 06:48:20 pm
So, this year, we decided (rather late, at the end of May) that we were going to start a hive. I picked up a 5 frame VSH nuk (170 miles drive each way) and installed the 5 frames, 2 days later (due to weather) in a single deep.

And, I had no plans of getting any honey from them this year, due to starting later in the season, and knowing how short our summers are and how long our winters are. I figure, even if I do put a super on, I will probably leave all that honey to them to get through the winter.

Welcome to the forum, robk23678.  There are lots of videos and threads here, if you have any questions just post them someone will generally give you an answer.  You may want to check in to a local bee club also, they can be a big help.  Good luck to your new and addictive hobby.

I have not found any bee clubs so far within 50 miles. Most of them appear to be in the central and southern parts of the state.
