Title: Drone question?
Post by: dronedave22 on April 27, 2012, 04:50:07 pm
I was reading that sometimes workers lay eggs and when they do they are drones.  Would these drones be of any use?  Coming from workers are they any different from drones that would be born of a queen?  That would make sense?  Any thoughts?

They'll reproduce like regular drones.  But being drones they do nothing but reproduce and if you've got a laying worker(s) that means you've been queenless for a while.  The hive will collapse in short order if a beekeeper does not intervene with a queen and or some fresh open brood.
