Ann, further clarification, when I clicked on the first Allium oreophillum (blue typing), a window came up:

Security error -- domain name mismatch
You have attempted to establish a connection with fall.mzbulb.com.  However the security connection belongs to www.mzbulb.com
It is possible, although unlikely that someone may be trying to interrrupt your connection to this website.
If you suspect the certificate shown does not belong to fall.mzbulb.com, please cancel the connection and notify the site administrator.

I cancelled the connection, these kind of messages weird me out.  That was all.  But yes, Ann, I bookmarked the main allium site and have looked at it, totally cool.  Have a wonderful and beautiful day in our great life.  Cindi

This just means that the webmaster has neglected to keep up on the security certificates. It happens to all of us once in awhile. There is nothing wrong with the site, but if your uncomfortable clicking past the warning then don't. There is no reason to leave your comfort zone.

Yea, Cindi, I got the same message.  As Bennettoid said, it's just poor progrmamming on the webmaster's part.  I'll try to remember to send them an e-mail about it.  It's a great bulb site, go back and check it out next season!

We finally had the killing frost, everything out there is rimmed with a lovely frost, I'm sure my pineapple sage will finally be kaput once the sun hits it.  Time for the final garden cleanup and the tuck in for winter.  It's been an interesting, long season!

First frost October 29.  No hard frosts yet, though.  Strangely enough, my peppers shook it off and are still  doing fine.  The chard, spinach, leeks, and lettuce are happy, too.

Ann, pineapple sage, I think I grew that one year and lost it.  Can you mulch it to keep it over?  Probably too late, but I wonder, I think it can be a hardy annual??????  Have a wonderful day, greatest of life. Cindi

I don't know, Cindi.  We have a monster pineapple sage that's been going for years.  I didn't think we were that much more mild than you were.

I thought sage was a fairly hardy plant. Russian sage ?
I think the problem is the inconsistant freezing and thawing in some inbetween areas.
We have that prblem here. The ground never freezes over here hard and stays that way. It freezes and thaws all winter sometimes pushing plants out of the ground

I have Mediterranean Sage.  Hardy as old get out.  Pretty pinky/purply flowers in summertime.  Beautiful day, beautiful life.  Cindi

No, unfortunately, it's what we call a half-hardy perennial, it won't make it in my climate.  It's ok, I get them from the herb society plant sale, they're cheap enough, and they grow into a magnificent mound up to three feet high by almost four feet wide!  I think I took a picture, I'll have to shuffle through the card a bit.

Cindi, I envy you your climate, there are so many wonderful salvias that just never flower for us because they usually bloom right when we get frosts.  This year was an exception, but I noticed a large leaved salvia in the backyard, can't remember the name, that got hit - and it had large scapes just about to unfurl  :'(  Oh well, there's always next year.....

CBEE, Russian Sage is in the Laminaceae family like salvia, sage, lavender and mint, but it's different from the sages, Perovskia atriplicifolia is the species name.  I've seen bumblebees on it, but not many honeybees.

Well we had our first frost here in Middle Georgia today. It looked like a baby snow. I hope that it did not burn my fall greens to badly. They are almost ready to start harvesting.

Ann, correct, just like the brussels sprouts!!!!  Gotta have that first frost to trigger the enzyme that turns them from bitter to sweet.  Been there, done that, so much different.

Amazingly enough too, when I put asparagus in the freeezer and eat it later, its taste is altered to taste even better too!!!  Yeah, that must be why we get cold weather, isn't Mother Nature smart  ;) :)  Have a wonderful and beautiful day, great life.  Cindi

   07 November 29 degrees.
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Milwaukee, Wisconsin had it's first official frost on Friday November 2.  It was 31 Degrees F at Mitchell International Airport.  So there.   8-)
