Removed a hive from a trailer down in Port Sulphur yesterday. At one time it was a rockin' colony I'm certain with good numbers but looked like they scraped by coming out of winter. Lots of comb not a ton of bees. Didn't fire up the bee vac no need to.
En route to this job got my very first swarm call of the season. They were tightly bound on a chain link fence as it was about 62F when I showed up. Thought they were gonna be pissy but were really well mannered. Took a little while to get them in the box as there were little clusters here and there once I pulled them away from the fence and a vine. All worked out though, about a lb & 1/2 or so swarm.

I agree with Annette...I like that sweet hive and their calm removal. And I think that crimson queen may be the prettiest one I've ever seen.
