Hey Guys
I have to remove a couple of supers sunday. What is the best way to get the bees out so I can take the supers to extract the honey? Can I just shake the bees off the frames and then put them in a empty box?

If you shake
A couple boxes are quickly done.
You should have flexible brush or a proper leaf twig.
Take innercover off
Give a slight smoke and blow inside so bees get nervous.
Do not give smoke much because odor attach in honey
Lift box off
Wait some minutes that bees get nervous. They suck themself full of honey. You may inspect during that time brood area.
Shake bees in front of hive. If you shake them on other bees, they get angry.
Take fastly the frame and hit with another hand on you hand.
Whip the rest with twig.
Take care that robbers do not go on cleaned frames.

FISCHER'S BEE QUICK works wonders if the temp is elevated. Follow the instructions and dem bees will move out, post haste.

Have to agree with Jack. Bee Quick is fantastic.

Bee Quick is all I ever use. The only problem, though, is there always seems to be about 6 or so that stay behind. Granted, I've yet to find anything that gets the bees from the super faster and with so little aggression.

I have used Benzaldehyde, -bee quick, I think-, but it is expensive. Any friends beekeeper are telling me about a blower. The blower cleans fast and the bees...so happy.

It is good for professionals or tens of hives.
