From Conroe, Texas
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:50:20 pm »
Hi guys (and gals).

I have been on the Facebook page for BeeMaster for a while now and decided to try to go ahead and move over there as well.

I have been keeping bees for about three years now, learning through major and minor mistakes. I have my primary bee yard in Conroe, Texas but have two other locations already set up and prepared to accept hives as well. I do bee removals and a lot of education to various folks and groups. I was a firefighter for many years and have been a paramedic for 26 years so most of my removal referrals come from the local fire departments since they know me already... That and I travel to each one when I can and give classes on bees to them.

I work full time for an ambulance company in Houston so I have don't get to spend as much time with my girls as I would like, and I also have broken many of the bee keeping rules without much negative result, such as working the bees at sundown or after dark. I leave when it is dark and get home when it is dark so my girls get their visits when it is dark. Amazingly I have done it enough times now they don't get as antsy as when I first started.

Anyway, I guess that is enough for now. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Jon

Not me, I don't like to work them even close to dark. My girls have told me to stay out in not so nice terms.   :( Welcome to the forum.

Try using a red light to work them at night.   Makes a world of difference

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.
