Title: Swarm pounds
Post by: doak on April 29, 2009, 12:13:40 am
Just wondering about swarm poundage.
This last big swarm I recovered was enough to fill 2 ten frame deeps.
With a medium super on and being well worked. They were crowded with out the medium added.
Question is, How many pounds would you beekers say was in this swarm? doak

How big was the swarm before you placed it in the set up? Size of a basketball, two?

Do you have any pictures?

Without pics, hard to say.

Sorry, didn't get any pic's. Could not have posted them.
One of these swarms that never did ball up. They were laid out along a limb and didn't even cluster at night. About as big around as a quart jar and 6 to 8 feet in length. First one I have ever seen like that. doak
