Dividing a mean hive
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:32:04 am »
Hello

I have a hive that is hot so i was thinking of requeening but then i decided to split the hive into two nucs and then requeen. I am getting two NWC queens in april so i want to split the two into nucs and then put in the new queens but how far should i move one of them from the main yard.

If you are going to break down the hive. you don't need to move them any where but where the origanal hive was placed.  Place them  side by side with some space in between.
Just a question, how mean are you talkin and do they still have a queen?
