New Beekeeper in VA
« on: March 19, 2007, 03:06:30 pm »
Hello everyone! I am a first year beekeeper in Zuni, Virginia - or will be on April 9th when I get my bees! I have always wanted to raise bees but never took the first step until this year. I purchased 4 hives and have 4 packages of bees on the way. Like most other newbie’s, I have been reading book after book, reading forums, watching videos, subscribed to two magazines, and am going to the next meeting of the local beekeepers association. Bees are fascinating and I have to admit I am already hooked. One of the best parts of beekeeping is the beekeeping community who seem to go out of their way to offer help and support. I will be learning from all of you!

Welcome!  This is a very helpful albeit humorous group - I've learned at least a ton from posts here.

Where the heck is Zuni?  :?

I'm in Lynchburg.  I assume your packages are coming from Dadant?
Best wishes!

Hello Rabbitdog

Zuni is in Isle of Wight county...not really a town... just a post office! (If you blink you will miss it) We are between Wakefield and Windsor on Hwy 460 about 2 1/2 hours from Lynchburg. (between Petersburg and Suffolk)

Yep, my packages are coming from Dadant in Lymchburg.

Welcome Zuni!

I was going to ask where the heck Zuni was, but Rabbitdog already beat me to it.  I'm in Ivy, about 15 minutes west of Charlottesville.  I'm also pretty new here, and am learning a bunch.  Enjoy.

Mark
