Translating fishing regulations!!!
« on: November 01, 2008, 04:33:46 am »
Ugh, I hate reading the Washington Fish & Game Regs!  I think it would be easier to study law or medicine.

Any Washington fly fishermen here?  What are some good rivers to fly for trout this winter?  I see most rivers this time of the year are fly only which is perfect for me.  Is the upper Yakima the only one open year round?  Anything on the west side not too far?  I live near Tacoma and that's a huge drive from here.  Gas ain't cheap these days.  lol

One of the best flyfishing places around, as you may already know, is Pass Lake in Deception Pass State Park right here on Fidalgo Island.  Only problem, for some, is that is a catch and release only lake.  Some others are Pilchuck Creek just north of Arlington.  It dumps into the Stilly just west of I-5.  You can get to it with a short walk from the Angel of the Winds Casino or off the Bryant/Standwood Rood, which is 300th West in Sno County, I think.  Take a right off I-5 at the Standwood exit and drive a few miles to the Pilchuck bridge.  There's some nice wide deep pools on the north side of the road that are excellent fly fishing.

Brian, I've seen people out on that lake on float tubes several times when I'm out making a gas delivery on Oak Harbor.  It's an awful long drive for me to go out that way, but if you're up for it Brian we should set a fishing date and I'll come pick you up as long as you got a boat.  Would be the least I could do for missing your party this summer.

I have a 12 foot aluminum boat and an 8 foot inflatable, your choice.  Pass Lake is arm poer only so you'll have to do the rowing, my back prohibits it.

I can row, no problem.  Sounds like we need to plan a day fishing trip Brian.  Plus this way I'll get to see your pigeons and bees too!
