Polyurethane to seal division board feeded
« on: September 15, 2010, 09:09:39 pm »
I want to make some medium division board feeders out of pine and luan plywood and was thinking of using Polyurethane to seal inside of feeder and then put in #8 cloth for them to climb on

is it ok to use Polyurethane or should i use Paraffin as per doolittle

  Thanks Dave

I used polyurethane-based marine paint to coat the inside of my 2-gallon top feeders and have had no leaks after two years without maintenance. Three of them sat outside, with syrup in them, through an Alaska winter and still hold water.

Just use at least two coats.
