Howdy from the free state of Idaho
« on: May 30, 2009, 01:11:02 pm »
I am a part time beekeeper in S. central Idaho. Just trying to keep my hives alive and make a little honey to sell locally. I chase a lot of swarms this time of year. Still learning how to winter bees in the cold country.  I learned beekeeping in Ca. wintering there was not an issue.  Steve

Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

I brought home my 6th swarm in 5 days today.  Must be swarm season in Idaho.  Now if I could just keep them alive in the winter. I had 11 hives last year 1 made it and that was barely. I think I will try wrapping them this year.  Steve

Greetings fellow Idaho beekeeper...I also got my start with bees in So Cal and have been hessitant to try them up here because of the stories I had heard about heavy winter losses.  We'll have to see if we can figure out what works.  Good to have you aboard.
