Aspiring new beekeeper from northeast of Seattle here.
I've always been the kind of person that likes to do things himself, and try out new things. My wife kids me about all the hobbies I have even though I pretty much stick with them all. It's a wonder how I have time to work sometimes... :-D
I've been reading beekeeping books, internet beekeeping sites and taking a beginning beekeeping class locally in preperation to my dive into beekeeping. I have also been making some of my own hive boxes and other assorted parphenalia. I even found an old honey extractor barrel on craigslist that needs the insides. I've been going over some plans in my head as to how to construct it.
Thanks for all the great information on this site. It has been part of my noobee education. It seems as if all we noobees have many of the same questions, and they all seem to be covered here.
I'll continue to lurk around the different forums here and keep gettin educated. Hopefully at some point I'll feel comfortable enough to join in to some of the discussions.

Hi! Welcome!
Is it is wet as what I hear it is? We have our share of dampness too .
From what I hear the humidity will be your greatest challenge up there....
I have the same problem with hobbies...as my wife reminds me of frequently too. ;)

This will be place that you can tell your stories, tales, experiences, meet new friends. The more that you learn about the honeybee the more you will learn that you need to know more, smiling. We love new members, and welcome with open arms. Have that most wonderful and awesome day, life, health. Cindi

Welcome.
The NW district beekeepers association is based in Snohomish. They meet on the second Tuesday of every month. Nice crowd and interesting meetings. Worth checking out.
