Sarah's Husband
« on: October 12, 2013, 10:44:13 pm »
Sarah and Delmar had been married for decades. Sarah knew that Delmar loved her but he was a man of very few words. As they were sitting on the porch that evening Sarah pined for the affection she once knew when they were young. She really missed those few kind words. Delmar was a good provider. When the house burned down he worked tirelessly to rebuild. When the big drought hit he toted water from the creek to the corn field trying to save it, but to no avail. When the barn burned down he once again worked tirelessly to rebuild and restock. When for no reason the strong well would dry up overnight, he would stop what he was doing and dig out some more. Almost every couple or three years something bad would happen but he would shoulder the responsibility and push on. He had to love her she thought to herself as she looked up at the stars from the porch.

Out of nowhere she hears, "Sarah" (could this be it? has he been thinking the same thing?)
Sarah, for several years I've had something I wanted to tell you.
This has got to be it!!! she thought as her heart swelled up with pride
Sarah, you were there when the house burnt down,
(Oh my gosh! he's been thinking about us!!!)
you were there when the big drought destroyed our crops,
(more words than he's said all month!)
you were there every time the well would dry up,
Sarah, you were there when the barn burnt up and took away everything I worked for,
(God Bless Him!!! I know this is it!! not long now!!!!)
Sarah, everytime something happened you were there,
Sarah, what I've been wanting to say is..
yes, you can tell me..
Well Sarah, what I've been want to say is..
Yes..,
Sarah, you jes plain ole bad luck, that's all.

When the law no longer protects you from the corrupt, but protects the corrupt from you - then you know your nation is doomed.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote.

Seems to me, he was there for each one, too. Maybe he should look in the mirror.
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me . . . Anything can happen, child. Anything can be"

*Shel Silverstein*
