Title: Little Desert Blooms
Post by: OzBuzz on May 27, 2012, 11:53:40 pm
Anybody had hives in the Little Desert? I'm just wondering what the flow is like, what to expect, when the flows occur etc? I know there is some Desert Banksia in there along with a range of Eucalypts etc... the Desert Banksia would probably be the earliest flowering wouldn't it? Would it be a good over wintering site?

I know it's no help at all, but early November last year I camped at Lake Albacutya which is at the south east corner of The Big Desert and could not believe how many bees there were around the camp areas. There are even signs at the edge of the reserve saying beware of the bees so the region is obviously good for bees. You'll need a 4 wheel drive though, there's no shortage of sand out that way
