Yesterday I worked on my bees, the trip was past due by a few weeks (slap to face), Most hives are doing well, one flew the coup, one very weak, another queenless, gave them both some brood from stronger hives. Added some supers for honey, Tallow starting to bloom.

Today I removed a lot of comb, about 9' worth! I caught three swarms from this same colony in the last month or so, and I did manage to find empty swarm cells.

Remember this? http://picasaweb.google.com/pyxicephalus/March252008/photo#5181859802922789266

They only had about 10,000 bees and I got the queen, she was striped, and hard to spot.

I can't imagine what this thing was like at their full potential, prob quite a beast.

I took lots of pics, so I hope ya'll enjoy them.

Dude!!!...that was awesome. I'd love to do one that size. It had some age to it for sure. I think the long season you guys have down there is conducive to larger colonies. Thanks for the pics. Really nice!

Hey Scott, when you come down it will be hot, humid and we may be in a dearth. I'll make sure we find one with some age to it, just for you. :-D

I really enjoyed these photos, especially the angle of the hive on its side looking like a very long super. You can see the bee space so clearly in that photo. I'm glad things are going well for you and the bees.

Take care
Annette

Un freaking believable man! I can only imagine!!! I'm stuck for words. Just amazing!  I really like the march of the bees into the box. Looks so easy. LOL

JP, your pictures say a thousand words.  What sights for the eyes, hee, hee.  Like Dallas said, you are the Swarm King, there is not a doubt in my mind about that  ;) :) :)  Keep on keepin' on, dude.  Have the best of this wonderful day, Cindi
