Ode to a Pun
   By Brian D. Bray
To discover a Simple Pun
Is Frivolous, Hilarilous Fun
A twist of the Tongue.
Word music Unstrung,
The Brain frets and Stews,
At such ridiculous Cues
But ribs giggle with Glee.
Reactions of Oh, Golly, Gee!
Still, the greatest Fun
Is to discover another Pun.

I read too many Xanth novels by Piers Anthony, don't you think?.

Like with a lot of the "poetry" I write it wakes me up in the middle of the night almost complete.  I just have to write it all down and then rearrange the order of the rhymes to make chronological sense.  I sleep with a pen, paper, and flashlight beside my bed for just such occasions.   I blame it all on my head injuries.  I've written over 70 poems and song lyrics, 15 short stories, and am currently working on my 3rd novel--a Western.  the 1st was my memoirs, the 2nd a Fantasy.  The short stories run from Sci-Fi to humor, mystery to historical.  I like to think I have eclectic tastes.
Life is a school.  What have you learned?   :brian:      The greatest danger to our society is apathy, vote in every election!
