Mean nasty rotten bees in tree
« on: September 24, 2007, 03:48:47 pm »
For those of you who recall the last time I used improvised means to get to some bees in a tree. I decided to use the right tool for the right job and also these bees were way the hell up ther. They were also mean horrible and nasty. Their queen now weaqrs concrete shoes at the bottom of the river and they were combined with a nice hive via newspaper method. 4 weeks later nothing but nice bees.

Much better than the ladder on the truck roof! Those open combs amaze me every time I see  them. :)

Only had 5 or 6 mean ones this yr, most were :-D gentle. I've rented lifts twice this yr and am scheduled to rent one for a removal on Thursday if the weather is better than what its forecast to be. They sure come in handy. I know this guy Brendhan, who used to perform balancing acts on top of his truck's roof, redneck bee remover, got 'em every time. What ever happened to that dude, anyway?

Must have fallen off and landed in his head.

So what do they charge you to rent the lift?  How high can it go?

It was from Home Depot.
It goes up to 25 feet. I believe they have ones that do 35 feet.
It was about around $135.00 for four hours.

Brendhan

Thanks Brendhan.... I'll have to check into them.  Looks like it would be a heck of a lot easier than setting up scafolding.

I rented one from HD that went 35' up and cost 225.00 for 24hrs. I rented a different type that you had to manually set the stabilizers in place, it was a dinosaur, cost a little less, $200.00 a day and went up to over 40', I believe it was 42'. Beats being 40' up on a ladder any day.
