Where to buy a Bee net?
« on: June 28, 2007, 07:48:44 pm »
Hi every one, I've been searching the web for a net to cover the hives during transportation.  None of the suppliers have it on their web site (or I'm blind).  Would someone give me an idea of where to look for the thing.  Thanks, Joseph

A friend of mine bought nets designed to go on baby strollers. They have elastic around the bottom and fit his hives nicely.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

Provided it's not too hot, we usually just use plain old (used) bed sheets.  Wrap around the hive and tie securely.  Bees cann't get out.  Wind blowing during transport keeps it from getting too hot.  It's much cheaper than any type of netting.  If you are set on netting, Walmart fabric dept. sells netting that will work.  I've bought netting a year or so ago from them.
