Question for JP
« on: February 03, 2011, 11:24:42 am »
Hey JP, I know you are a busy man trying to keep Schawee away from the vanilla shakes and all, but how about putting all you videos on a CD for us to buy? I know I would love to have your collection!

My wife would love for me to make money off my videos! I'll see what I can do.

Actually, I've kinda been toying with the idea of doing so.

Let me get back with you once I've given it some more thought.

Thanks for your interest.

You mean the Google isn't sending you a big fat check every month for all those Youtube hits?

Are they supposed to? Where's my checks?  :-D

If I do put some up for sale, I would want to fine tune them and make them super instructional. What I have presented thus far has been fun and somewhat instructional, but not really a how to. I guess that's what would sell?

JP, there is a ready market for your videos. Check with Alan Huot at Wildlife Control Supplies www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com he could steer you in the right direction since he caters to the NWCO market. I know there is an ever increasing demand for training in the industry as I am already getting calls from colleagues (I only accept calls from out of state colleagues of course) wanting training in honeybees.

JP,

One humble request. In your videos of cutouts, can you show where the drones are being raised in relation to the brood nest and honey storage?

Thx,

Jay

I'm going to give it some more thought Dave.

Thanks for your interest.

YouTube has a partnership program that allows you to make money from your videos.  A general rule of thumb is that you want 1,000 subscribers, several videos with over 1,000 views each, and total upload views of >250,000.  On the other hand, I have also heard reports that the only thing YouTube looks at is if your view count this year is higher than your views last year.

The last I knew, YouTube partners were paid something like this:
Youtube partners will make $2.5 to $5 per 1000 video views
Subscribers: A youtube partner will get paid $.05 per subscriber.
Channel views: A youtube partner will make $.01 per channel view.

If you have a really popular video, YouTube will give you a one-time partnership on that video, allowing you to earn revenue from that one video.

I believe Marina Orlova was the first YouTube partner to become a millionaire from YouTube revenues.

In your videos of cutouts, can you show where the drones are being raised in relation to the brood nest and honey storage?

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

Hey Bailey, sorry I didn't get back with you this evening. Emil and I were thrown a slight curve ball with the removal and was just tied up to the hilt.
