Queen genetic contribution
« on: December 16, 2011, 09:16:47 am »
Ive read it somewhere, but now I cant find it. If I order queen cells from a breeder, how much of a contribution to my apiaries gene pool will she make after having been bred by my drones? Is it as simple as a 50/50 cross or is there dominate genes that only a queen will throw i.e color, temperament etc

The drones a pure bred queen produces are all pure bred regardless of what drones she mated with as they make no contribution to the drones.  There are many cases where people "Italianized" an apiary in very few generations by leveraging that fact.
