My friend has a TBH that can take a medium frame (depth and width) and the length is about equivalent to 3 langstroth supers, so it can take maybe 30 frames. He is thinking about expansion plans for next year if the colony builds fast and his idea is to use medium supers as a second level to give the bees additional space and to prevent swarming. Is this a reasonable approach? If not, then how do you address additional space and prevent swarming with a TBH?
Thanks for any comments
John
BTW - 40 miles north of Denver and had a 12 inch snow last week, this week days in the 60's, bees are flying and bringing back pollen...
