Title: Robinia Trees
Post by: BlueBee on February 26, 2012, 04:13:33 am
I was perusing through my forest farm catalog the other day and see they offer a number of trees/shrubs of the Robinia genus.  This is the genus of the Black Locust; Robinia pseudoacacia.  I’ve always admired the “Purple Robe” version of the black locust trees and will probably mail order a few this spring.  However I wasn’t really aware of all these other Robinia options I see in the Forest Farm catalog.

Does anybody have experience with Robinia trees/shrubs other than the old standard black locust?  What I’m really wondering is rather of not the other Robinia options are good for the bees too?  I’m in Zone 5.
