Title: Hello!
Post by: Daurade on July 03, 2013, 09:34:02 am
Hi, my real name is Steven and I'm an American living near Toulouse, France.  I just started working with bees a few weeks ago, volunteering with a local, small-scale professional beekeeper in exchange for learning all about beekeeping.  My "boss" just gave me my first hive and in a week or so I will move it to a friend's property near where I live.  Not much to add, except I hope to develop this into something between a hobby and a livelihood, maybe working part time and supplementing that with selling honey, wax, propolis.  We'll see how that turns out.  I enjoy the calming aspect of the work and have already done a wide variety of things in the rucher, sometimes alone.  My vocabulary might sometimes be off because I'm used to doing all of this in French.  Don't hesitate to correct me on the terminology!  :)

Oh, yes, I also make beer and plan on using honey in my homebrews!

Welcome to the forum, Steve.  Working with a professional beek you  will pick up on a great deal of knowledge.  You can also pick up lots here also.  Good luck to you and your bees.

Welcome!  I'm new here, too, though have been keeping bees for awhile.  Lots of great feedback and information on this forum.

Thanks again!  Better to Bee, I'll try not to take this opportunity for granted.  I'm lucky to have found someone so generous with their knowledge.
