There is a new Group on FACEBOOK for the Beemaster's International Forum.
If you have a FACEBOOK account, be sure to look it up and add it to your groups.

We would like to show the world outside this forum how large and devoted a group the Beemaster forums are.
Hopes are that other like minded beekeeper will be awakened to this forum and join.

This may sound strange, but I am not a member, won't do Facebook, Myspace or any of those Social Networks sites. I did twitter, reluctantly to try following the updates on a radio station I listen to, but that got old fast and I don't twit any more.

So this has some issues, like the web address and contact info it points toward is my EMAIL ADDRESS who ever is admining it now, I hope you change that to reflect the forum or beemaster.com - I don't want the billion face bookians emailing me, I have NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS FACEBOOK PAGE, please take my email info off the page!

I do appriciate members (looks like 68 right now) using a site like that, but I don't get these sites and never will. What happens there that doesn't happen somewhere in the forum here?

That last part is the info is out dated, almost 1000 members off and there is over 170 thousand posts here now NOT 68,000 like it says there. I hope the admin keeps up with the numbers or generically says THOUSAND of members and massive post count (or whatever) it is easy to outdate a page like this and it just doesn't seem right - if you start it, then see it through, don't abandon it.

That's just a few reasons I don't Facebook, I don't think the average page is keep current and better old news that no news isn't always realistic.

I'm on there as well.  The way I see it, the only reason to do it is if you are already on FB and you just want to see the personal side of fellow beeks who you know from this site and because it lets your other non-beek friends know that you are into this hobby.  I always like it when people ask me about my bees...I'm pretty sure my wife and kids are sick of hearing about them ...haha

I understand the reluctance of some to avoid the "social networks" they all tend to be a bit 'trendy' and 'teenie'.  I do FaceBook, Tweet, and MySpace but it's merely my bowing to the Giant Spider of the Web...Google.  It helps to be on their good side....so the major social networks are a good way to do that without completely selling out.

Anyhow.  Hello all...I'll find ya on Facebook, though I agree with the Master that this forum is a much better venue to speak bee with one another....FaceBook and the likes of it do have value.

Cheers,
Mac

The whole Beemaster Page was started by Dallas (PDMattox) and Brendhan (Understudy) I had nothing to do with it and I'm going to try getting touch with either to get the admin/pass from them and make it a bit more official.

It was a nice thought, but I think that it has been abandoned by them, so I need to 1) get hold of it or 2) start a new page (Lord I hate Facebook) but if that's what the membership wants, I always try to accommodate.

I do want to thank all of you who HAVE joined, it is a nice gesture, but I think it needs to be kept up better, unlike the forum "Build it and they will come and stay" I think the Facebook page falls into that realm of a restaurant who's menu hasn't changed in 30 years.

We're getting very close to one thousand Facebook members - shouldn't be long before we hit that milestone.

It's easy to get 1000 friends (matter of fact I'd say it's harder to keep below a hundred than above 1000 Facebook friends) but 1000 members is a very nice achievement on FB.

I think the best part of FB is how well it integrates with so many apps. People find it much easier to post image, videos and text on FB because they have so many other apps that post on various service at once.

I still find FB to be a confusing mess, and you need to go out of your way to be stealth there. I keep my friends to people I actually know, because a friend of a friends friend is not my friend in the real world, nor should it be on FB. Just my opinion.

The convenience of signing in to other apps or services out-grew its usefulness to me. It got to where I was posting stuff elsewhere and because I was lazy and didn't want to fill out an email address and username, I'd connect using FB and before I knew it, I was dialed in to many other platforms, such as twitter, Klip, Instagram and so many more. The lesson, take the time to create an account, not just expedite signing up using FB unless you don't mind that everything you do is blasted over a hundred different services.

Lastly, you forget quickly if you use AD-BLOCK PLUS what content you would see without the blocking tool. Just for the heck of it, turn off Ad-Block some time and see the bombardment of crap you'd get if you didn't use it. Scary stuff.

Amazing to see over 1300 members now - 300 since late may alone. Keep on truckin' folks, I know that for smart phone users it is often much easier to upload and communicate with Facebook and our group is amazingly active there.

I'd join.. but Facebook decided I wasnt a real person...  they requested a copy of my drivers license and my SS# among other things to prove I am a real person........ Uhhh.. NO!!!  Not going to happen...
When my son was over in Afganistan they blocked me about six times trying to message him...  Youd think when one of our family members was over fighting for US that they would be MORE considerate.. Instead, i was treated like a terrorist.. so... no more facebook for this old guy...

Title: Re: Beemaster FACEBOOK Group
Post by: OldMech on November 08, 2013, 12:10:58 am
Yeah...  Try to log in ai get redirected to the site telling me what I have to do.. I have emailed them half to death trying to get back on and NEVER once received a reply...   I like facebook, it allows me to stay in touch with friends and family.. but its NOT worth the hassle I went through, or being ignored.  I tried to just start a new account..  started friending my family etc.. I got three of them friend'd, then it BLOCKED me again.. at that point I was all done. My wife has never had a problem, none of the other people I know have ever had an issue.. so i dont know what I did to make them angry or why they will not respond to my mails.. I finally just figured my strong stance on gun control got Big O's attention and he didnt want me spouting FACTS that could be proven so he had them block me permanently..     LOL
