Bee Removal From Fire Training Facility-Part Two
« on: October 16, 2010, 01:02:56 am »
This video showcases the removal.

The other one I just couldn't resist "Dave's" rants about being the sixth person in the universe to be allergic to pollen.  :lau:

I removed as much comb as I could from the exterior but in the end had to open the floor to get the rest out.

I honestly believed we failed to get the queen and that she and some of the other bees had gone all the way to the other side of the trailer.

I wasn't about to take the entire trailer apart searching for her, so last night I sent Schawee home with the bees and a strong, gentle colony in a medium nuc.

These were the bees I removed from the Crape Myrtle tree at the Ramada Inn.

Anyway, I was astonished when Schawee called today saying the queen from the removal at the fire training facility was in the box!

I really, really thought we had left her behind.

He said she has a golden abdomen with black tip and is a pretty large queen.

I'm very happy as these are good bees and as the video shows, nice and gentle.

Oh, and there's a lot less profanity in this video.

Thanks for watching.

I believe you've started calling Schawee "Dude," JP.

This one looks like such an awkward removal...working by touch only. I particularly like those one handed comb hand-offs to Schawee.

(I just received my first bottle of Bee Quick in the mail, and I'm eager to use it.)

Nice work, gentlemen.

I think JP has bee quick sold to about everyone.    I am sold on that Burger Delight.

And JP, I can not believe that eagle eyes missed that queen to start with as he was framing the comb.  Great video.

Its hard finding queens with tears in your eyes.  :-D

I'm still laughing from Dave the fireman's rants!

One sucky thing was all that background noise. I don't even know what it was, some compressor or something, but that dang thing sure was loud on the videos.

My only concern during the removal was bees dropping from the combs and falling on my face as I was handing the sections to " The Dude".

As nice as those bees are it probably wouldn't have been that bad.

OK, "NO" "NO" "NO". I will not ever do a cutout like this in my entire life.  I was in pain just watching you all contorted on the ground.

What a hive that was!!

But I wanted to tell you that I know the 2nd person in the world who is allergic to pollen. A women in my office!!

Great video JP. I was truly impressed watching you hand those combs to the "Dude". I kept thinking "How many more are coming out from under there"

Glad that is over and you got the queen after all.

OK, just to change the subject a little, if one was allergic to pollen, how do they get to go outside in the spring?   I know here in the south, everything becomes yellow from the pollen.  Just wondering.  It has been bugging me.

Allen, I can't answer your question but I guess its an ingestion issue. If I see the sixth world wonder again (aka Dave the fireman)  :-D I'll have to ask him what the scientists, doctors and research team who was studying him had to say on the subject.  :-D

Dang Annette, I had a removal just like this one planned for us to do next time you come down. What a disappointment!  ;)

Dave told of another story of "the talking head".

Schawee told me yesterday, guess I missed it amongst all the commotion.

Dave claimed there was this trailer burnt to a crisp and he found the guy inside burnt to the bone.

Everything but his head was burnt to a crisp.

Dave said the guy opened his eyes and said "I have to go to work" they were like, Dude you burnt bad and need to go the hospital.

Story goes he opened his eyes again and said "I have to go to work" closed his eyes and died.

Scary, sad, but is it true?

Only Dave knows.
