H i friends,
I have a question or two:
I overwintered 5 hives, lost two. Am ordering 2 packages. One of the left over hives is strong, lots of bees.Brood present.
Will it work if I take a couple of frames with bees, spray them with sirup(sugar water),and add them to the hives in which I will install the packages? Spray the packages as well! That way ,will the packages have a bit of a boost to expand faster?
What do you think??
Look forward to hear from you all.

The packages should be able to make it on their own. It would boast them but it is not necessary.

.
Let the big hive make its brood, and when it has a frame, where bees are just emerging, then give it to package hive.
Shake all bees of.
Then you have no danger that bees fight or kill the queen.
One brood frames gives 3 frames bees.

Finsky, good answer. That is what I'll do. New packages arrive next week from New Zealand.
Have a good day.

I would give the bees packages 1 frame of capped brood per hive (no bees) if you have it.

. New packages arrive next week from New Zealand.
Then in summer, change the NZ queens in time. In Finland all ZN colonies do not stand winter.
