And how does that make you a flake???  This makes you an extraordinary person in my book (is this the answer you were seeking??)

Seriously though, are you having doubts about doing all of these good things??? Most of the wonderful things in the world come from people who are not afraid to be different. Have confidence that you are doing the right things and don't care what anyone else says.

I was brought up to marry a wealthy man, sit on my butt all day and eat bon bons. I was a princess.
I have had to undo years and years of conditioning to make a life that I am comfortable with. Gosh since getting involved with the bees, I hardly wear my jewelry anymore, hardly get dressed up (except to go to work). Yesterday I did a cutout and I was hot, dirty and so involved that I did not have a care in the world. That makes life interesting.

Have fun with the bees and be glad you are a little bit different.

Annette

Welcome to the forum.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

ahh, but you do not have a magic red umbrella.... ;)
Just teasing, annette too.
Please, you just described half the people I know in one way or another.
Welcome to the forum. I don't think anyone here is going to refer to you as a beehaver. This is a very supportive group we have here. We are like family and you will see that as you spend more time here.

My sensei once mentioned casually; that most martial artists are "about a half a bubble off plumb". I kinda say 'flake' with a modest degree of pride; I'm also a conservative liberal - or maybe a liberal conservative. - I'll stick to flake.

Bee Happy, welcome to our forum, so great you found us.  Now if that is what you call being a flake, I think that majority of us here are in that same boat, smiling.  Stick around, we love new members, you have a few posts, so you are getting a pretty good feel as to what we are all about, one great big happy bunch of family oriented people, and the bees are our children, smiling.  This will be a great place for you to tell your stories, tales and experiences, ask questions.  Have that wonderful and most awesome day, love our life we live, health.  Cindi

P.S.  Oh Annette, by the way, I still think that you are that little Princess.....
There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

Do you dye your hair?  Just wondering if you were a "frosted flake"  :-P

I'm just plain weird :).   And I hate violence too.  In fact, I am so much against it that I'll beat the tar out of anybody who suggests it!! :-D
